Adera Case Study

OVERVIEW

On the edge of nature, inspired by an elegance that matches an unsurpassed quest for greatness. Prodigy was Adera Development’s second six-story wood frame project at University of British Columbia (UBC). Overlooking Mundell Park and located in the Wesbrook neighbourhood at UBC, Prodigy is close to every urban amenity, yet surrounded by the ocean and forest parks. Extensive green spaces, water features and pathways link the neighbourhood together, connecting to the wider university community.

THE GOAL

Award-winning multi-family builder Adera Development came to Weiser looking for a connected smart home product for their Prodigy low-rise condominium project in order to provide home automation convenience and contemporary style for the new building.

Adera Development projects are contemporary and integrate themselves into the surrounding areas while providing home owners with the amenities needed in modern buildings. Adera wanted to ensure that any home owner, from the tech-savvy to the traditional user, would feel comfortable gaining access to their unit.

Adera Spotlight

THE CHALLENGE

Adera Development was originally intrigued by the Kevo 1 Bluetooth deadbolt, which at the time had just launched to the market. Adera Development had already discussed potentially offering a home automation hub and potentially a Wi-Fi thermostat in the Prodigy project, and the Kevo 1 would have required a secondary hub to be installed in order to offer remote operation.

Wegroup Case Study Solution

THE SOLUTION

Our team recommended using a SmartCode 5 Contemporary electronic deadbolt with Z-Wave, which matched the contemporary style of the building and which could be linked to an existing home automation hub. The SmartCode 5 connected product could also be used as a stand-alone keyless entry touchpad or with standard key operation as desired by the tenant.

Utilizing Weiser’s Home Connect technology, this particular electronic deadbolt can work in concert with the other connected devices in your home to provide added convenience to the tenant.

Meshing technology and style can be difficult for many designers who want the best products to work with their systems but still want to ensure their ideal aesthetic comes to fruition.
